Tasmania has very diverse wildlife. Shown above is this state's most famous animal - the Tasmanian Devil. This vicious little critter is the largest known living marsupial. The larger Tasmanian Tiger is said to be extinct, although there are occasional alleged sightings. Its survival has remained a mystery. Along the coast of Tasmania are large colonies of seals and penguins. Preservation of the natural habitat is ensured by the state's sixteen national parks. This island's remote setting and spectacular scenery has to be experienced to be believed. To truly grasp the rich culture and diverse beauty, each region has to be experienced.
